The Story

The 17th century wall paintings discovered in the castle are of outstanding historic importance, portraying the key milestones in the political and social ascent of the Daniel family.

The painting that inspired the name of the room is depicting the paying of the tribute to the Ottoman Empire by the Principality of Transylvania.

In the background we see the towers of Constantinople, and in the front the ambassador (supposedly count Daniel) bowing before the sultan, beneath him the coffer filled with money-bags.

Being an ambassador to such important state affair was a great honor, so no surprise the Daniels had the event painted.
